The values turn easily. There were no rough edges from molding. The bit values are thick but not excessively. Comparable with most other bite values available on Amazon.

These are just hollow bite valves. They, slip over the hose and have holes that open when you squeeze it. Most of my bladders have a hard plastic valve with a rubber cover. These offer a nice mechanical seal. This replacement doesn't have a mechanical seal, but the kit comes with shut off valves, which is probably a better option. One of my mechanical seals started leaking and I replaced it with this. I am not disappointed at all. I haven't added the shut off valve yet, but I can see it being necessary for transporting and if the bite valve wears out while your on a hike or bike, shuttle valve to preserve your water.Installation was easy, I cut the end of the hose where the old bite valve was slid inside, slide this new valve over those and tested. It didn't leak, although if you put pressure on the bag, you can get it to leak (not easily, but it did leak).Anyway, this is a decent and cheap option for a water bladder replacement bite valve.

The size of the valves is much larger than a Camelback original. Original angle shown compared to the size of the straight valve but the angled valve is also much larger. This means it's very hard to fit to the pipe and a Camelback bite guard also barely fits over the mouth piece. The new item is 9.8mm on the flutes and 11.7mm on the mouth piece side compared to 7.8mm and 9.85mm respectively. The valve open and closed positions are also reversed.
