I have long narrow feet, but these managed to be tight around the foot at one sock(but not the other?)and was baggy at the heel. They have a course feel to them in spots which I assume is the nylon. To each there own I guess, but I can't see hiking in these. I nearly got a blister just doing casual walking around for a day.Maybe if these were a perfect fit for your feet you'd like them but they are so stiff that they don't confirm to my foot shape.I've heard tons of rave reviews of this brand, I may try a different style, but these were returned.

This sock, and I am referring to these and three other versions/sizes I have purchased from Darn Tough, are an absolute joke. If there was something equivalent to a concrete textile, these are it! I am a size 12. Neither the XL nor the XXL come anywhere close to fitting. I can barely get the XXL on my foot. It is so tight and uncomfortable beyond belief. Why are socks so difficult to make? It's a sock for God sake! It's not a bridal gown. If you 're going to charge $20.00 for a couple of socks, I expect them to be "damn perfect." When and if I can get a pair on, the end of the sock seam only covers two and a half toes. I mean really WTF? How long have we been making socks? Almost a 1,000 years and we still can't get it right, only now we pay $20 a pair. Making a XL, XXL sock doesn't just mean making it longer. It means making it wider so it can hold a large foot, more proportional volume. It's really not rocket science. If you want a great wool sock, go to Minus 33 or Smartwool. You'll be pleased.

Medium grey is a little darker than in the photo. This is the 1680 model.
