Saves so much time by not having to pre-freeze the bowl. The ice cream is ready in just under an hour, it turns off by itself after an hour, but keeps the ice cream from melting by running the compressor periodically if you decide to leave the ice cream in there until serving. Really happy with this.

I've been dithering about buying an ice cream maker due to the size and the usefulness. I'm pleased I went ahead as this little beauty is fabulous. It is not overly big and makes around a litre of ice cream. The instructions are lacking and I'm still working out what the different symbols mean - I went with the ice cream symbol as the one I assumed made .... ice cream! Didn't bother with the recipes given as they involved pre-prepping some ingredients which I couldn't be bothered with, but used 1 x 280ml pot of Elmlea / double cream; half 397g can sweetened condensed milk; 1/2 tsp of vanilla essence (use the best, not vanilla flavouring); and lobbed in a tblspn of Wilkinson salted caramel spread. Put it all in the machines pot; set it off and left it to do its thing. End result was lovely and smooth, but very, very soft which is where the freezer (snowflake button) comes in. Had it on the freezer option for 10 mins so it was still softish, but easy to spoon into a glass storage dish and put it in the freezer. Just tested it (and tested it, and tested it!) and it is utterly delicious. The condensed milk; double cream / Elmea; vanilla essence mix is the base you can add all sorts of flavourings to. Next batch will be Pina Colada ice cream - yum yum. I live in a flat so filling space for no purpose has to be seriously thought about, but this is compact so is not overly intrusive on worktop space. After not thinking it would be very good, I'm delighted that it is a great bit of kit and easy peasy and not overly expensive compared to others. Also has the added advantage of knowing exactly what ingredients are in there and avoiding additives etc.
