Great filter. After speaking with the HVAC specialist that services my system I feel comfortable using the 1000 as it balances air flow and cleanliness.Pros-collects dust and hair-lasts anywhere between 2-3 months-arrow clearly indicates which air flow direction to place the filter

These filter by 3m are among the best I have purchased, Sturdy and work well. My furnace has a very tight spot for the filters and if they are too flimsy they sre hard to insert. These are much easier for me to insert.

As an allergy sufferer living in a challenging environment, an effective filter is a must have! I've used regular filters for years because a size 12" by 20" is very difficult to find in my area, even in a regular filter. I found these on Amazon and noticed an immediate difference in the air quality in my house after installing the first pair. I would even try the finer filter offered by 3M, but they don't come in 12" x 20" - maybe in the future 3M will offer them in this size. In the meantime, I'm a very satisfied customer.

This filter seems to be the right thickness/density (11 MERV) for my 2.5 ton HVAC. It filters out pretty good and doesn't seem to restrict the airflow too much. I change the filter religiously every 3 months and I can usually find them on Amazon for a really good price compared to local stores. Tried the purple ones 1500 MPR (12 MERV) but didn't feel any difference to justify the 40% price difference so I'm back to 1000 MPR.Update 6/3/2016: After talking to several A/C contractors that serviced my furnace, they all recommended either upgrading to a 5" filter or using fiberglass filters instead because these filters are too restrictive. Since my ducts are pretty clean, I took their advice and bought a 12 pack fiberglass filters from HD for $17 dollars with free store pickup. Air speed at the vents increased substantially, house warms up and cools down a lot faster than before. First fiberglass filter is still in after 6 months as there's minimal dust in it. My wife didn't complain about having more dust in the house either, so I would recommend these filters to anyone that has clean ducts. Please use the buttons below to let me know if my review helped you make a decision.
