This is a great tool if you suffer from dandelions like our yard does. It comes in a pretty small box, but thankfully its pretty easy to assemble, and should only take you 10 minutes before you can be out using it. It is very effective at pulling dandelions, and even gets deep down to the roots most of the time. It may leave a small hole, but I think that's more of the fault of the week and not the puller. It is very nice to be able to pull weeds with this standing up so I don't have to crawl around. I can get through a lot more weeding with, and that speed up is definitely a welcome change.

No assembly instructions, but honesty not that difficult to figure out.No usage instructions either, but also easy enough to figure out.Jam it into the base of the weed with the 'leg' facing towards you. Push down towards the ground using said leg as leverage, and voila you have a small cone of dirt with the weed's deep root and much less chance of this particular weed growing right back. This is gonna make weeding so much easier this year! The actual hook portion is thick and weighty. The four claws ensures it's getting everything it needs to. The handle is a bit on the flimsy side, but shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as you're not putting too much weight on it. It doesn't take all that much pressure to work, so it should be fine. But I'll of course update if it ends up bending anytime in the first year of use.

So, it does make weed pulling VERY easy. I was able to just position it over a small weed, pull, and I got a clump of dirt with the roots [not ideal, but it's a weed puller and the weeds are why they're hard to remove because they imbed in the roots really well]. My only issue is that to close it, you have to pull up on the lever, effectively having to push your foot under the handle. In order to loosen it, you have to push down. I wish it were the opposite way, but that's not how this is designed. The handle is a little suspect to me, because the type of steel [sheet metal] is somewhat... thin, in a way that makes me uncomfortable as I've had other things made of a similar material for a handle. They typically have a tendency to dent and warp easily, and this is the same material, so that's mildly frustrating because the rest of the tool is amazing. I love the cast iron tip on the teeth, and the handle. I only wish the construction for the rest of it was of a similar strength. Now, don't get me wrong. There's pros and cons to this. Because of the material, it makes the whole apparatus SO much lighter, and easier to use, making me not tire out as easily, but... the cost is the stability of the construction. Heaven forbid I drop this thing or another tool lands on the handle.

It works! I tried it first on a clump of grass (crabgrass?) and it pulled it right up by the roots! Assembly instructions are non-existent, and operating instructions are skimpy, but just push it into the ground around the weed with your foot, and then pull (probably best at a slight angle toward yourself). There is no mechanism for removing the weed from this tool (i.e., no lever to open the "claws" up and let the weed fall to the ground) so you'll just have to do it manually. The tool itself is VERY sturdy/heavy duty. The handle probably wouldn't withstand a lot of pressure, BUT most of the pressure should always be on the tool anyway - lots of pressure to push it into the ground; a lot less strain when pulling it up.Worth a try if your back is tired and strained from stooping!

This arrived and I was excited to put it to use. It is a lot more durable than I was expecting it to be. The bottom part, the part that digs into the ground and pulls the weeds, is what I am guessing to be cast iron based on the weight and durability of it. It is very simple, you set the jaws over the weeds and lift the bar, it digs them out no problem. My soil needs a refresh as it is not aerated currently and this tool still digs right in.The handle is 3 separate poles which you twist together, I’m a bit concerned over time and with use the handle will have issues long before the weed pulling bottom part, but this is only speculation for the time being as it is holding up really well. With regular upkeep this tool should last quite a while. Super easy to use and for someone with back problems I wish I would’ve had this years ago.
