Worked like a champ in shutting off the water that drained from the entire line to my septic sprinkler every time the pump shut off

Snow plow took out a sprinkler head along the street. The head sat at bottom of a hill in the yard and had one of these units to regulate the pressure. The plow blade caught the head and snapped the old check value where the threads go into the irrigation head. Direct replacement, perfect fit. Be careful to flush out any dirt out of the line before installing the new unit (and also before adding the irrigation head). I got a bit wet but was worth having it clear. Working perfectly again. My heads are Hunter brand so this was perfect fit/replacement.

This solved my problem immediately after installation. I had previously replaced the zone valve diaphragm and solenoid, but it didn’t solve the problem. Because this valve installs directly below the sprinkler head it adds three inches to the height of the sprinkler. If your installation is hard piped as mine was, you will have to install a couple of elbows and 3” of pvc pipe to maintain the prior height. No big deal to resolve my problem!
