Whether you like its tone or not this pedal does its job. The original sound of the guitar get subtlety colored. To my ears it seems to tighten the lows and balance everything out a bit, almost like a maximizer. It’s really a matter of taste where to put it in the signal chain. If you like what it does to your clean guitar then place it first. It seems to behave well also when placed after an overdrive or distortion pedal. I don’t know, it’s not anything an eq pedal couldn’t do, but I know it would have taken me ages to nail the same equalization on my own.

A former Canadian, Jim Dunlop, has developed great pedal devices for us. This is a great one too.

Ottimo acquisto ! Consigliato !

Was a bit wary of buying something that has no reviews on here plus the reviews on line talk about the effect being subtle. I agree the effect is subtle but after a while you get like you leave it on all the time. In my home studio I'm currently running the EP101 at the start of the signal chain followed by a Vox Satchurator, a delay pedal set to long multiple repeats and another delay pedal set to short repeats. My amp is a Valve Orange Microdark with the cab sim going direct to a Yamaha mixer and then into a Denon stereo amp running a set of QA Acoustics Concept 20's.I have to say so far I like the vibe the EP101 brings to my tone. Clean sounds are beefed up a little at around 9 oclock on the dial and then it gets progressively a bit meatier around the dial. Full on is not great it causes a bit of clacking on the bass string notes so backing it off is sensible. Currently I can get a clean Hendrix tone fairly easily and it's encouraging to play with the unit switched in all the time. I have it around 2.OClock and that gives a really cool attack and makes playing more responsive. Cranking in the Satchurator at full chat with the "MORE" button engaged gives really powerful blues/rock tones and a slight backing off of the tone on the Satchurator matched the EP101 nicely.Running it with a Boss Bd2 Blues Driver didn't really excite very much, the BD2 had a grittiness that was hard to tune out and despite a lot of knob twiddling it only worked as a boost satisfactorily.Used in front of a Boss GT001 was again very good indeed and around 2 o'clock was optimal. I used clean and distorted sounds from the big selection of presets in the unit and couldn't fault it. Leaving the EP101 permanently on works well and the combination of it and the GT001 straight into the mixer in stereo produced the best setup for monitoring and recording.
