I use for an ornament

An interesting piece; fun to play around with and a cool showpiece. Affordable.

I just received this 5" Sundial from Amazon. The build quality is excellent.! Highly polished solid brass construction. The three hinges work smoothly and stay in place once set. The oversized compass is beautiful and works as it should. The three leveling screws are very well made. The round dial is 3 5/8" diameter, and the three leveling screws stick out 3/4" ....5" ????Comes with no instructions. The bad part is the sun's shadow from the pointer on the sundial does not show on the highly polished dial ring, making it useless for telling time. Same as holding a pencil vertically to a mirror, the sun's shadow from the pencil does not show on the mirror either.So this is just a useless, very beautiful well made toy at best.Look in the attached photo can you tell what time it is? No sun's shadow on the dial ring.

decided to give it a try and after examining mine closely after opening, found it to be well made, no noticeable flaws, and works. I hope the next two I order for engraving and prizes, are as well made as this one, we'll see.

Beautiful piece. I tested the sun dial and it was accurate. The compass helped me place the sundial correctly. Once it was placed in the correct position according to the sundial it read the time by the position of the sun.
