When looking for the right conga book I was really wondering which one to buy. At the end I bought 5 of them. So to help out others here's a comparison:- Tomas Cruz Volume 2: Good on wide variety of Cuban styles (the best book on this part). Excellent on the right technique with the added video. If you are mainly interested in learning different rhythms: buy Volume 2. Volume 1 really focusses on technique. Volume 3 is also cool.- Pongo Sanchez Conga Cookbook: Mainly focusses on Tumbao variations but the best book on this part. Good addition to Tomas Cruz' book or if you only play Tumbao-kind of rhythms.-Mike Spiro introduction to the conga drum: Not a lot of actual grooves in here but certainly a lot of technique exercises making you a better conga player. A good addition after you mastered the books above. I would not advice to buy the DVD. The lessons are good but it is one long video-file without index which is very annoying when practicing.
